North Yorkshire businesses don’t all sit on an industrial estate. Farms, rural workshops, holiday businesses, plant yards and sites on the coast or the moors often have large roofs, spare land and daytime power demand. BrightEdge Solar designs and installs commercial solar PV and battery storage for businesses across York and North Yorkshire. We’re based in Beverley, East Yorkshire, and install across the UK. Recent examples include commercial solar at Woodsmith Mine and care home solar in Clifton, York.

Workshops, offices, cold stores, farm machinery and holiday lets use much of their power during the day. Every unit you use on site saves the full price you’d otherwise pay for it.
A tired store or barn doesn’t rule solar out. Re-cladding the roof first can make an old building ready for solar and battery storage.
From first call to aftercare

Initial call: we look at your bills and, ideally, half-hourly data. Desktop design: satellite imagery and mapping give us an initial layout and estimate, often before we visit.

Site survey: roof or ground, structure, electrical supply, cable routes and access. Proposal: final design, expected generation, costs and timescale.

G99 application: we submit and track it, along with any planning application. Installation and commissioning: MCS-compliant, planned around your busy periods.

Remote monitoring, plus optional annual maintenance to MCS MIS3002.

Barns, sheds, cold stores and ground-mounted arrays on spare land, with battery storage to use more of your own power. Our agricultural solar for farm roofs and land page covers the details. Our ground-mount example is near Pocklington, East Yorkshire, not York.
Workshops, contractors’ yards and plant buildings use power through the working day. Re-cladding plus solar, and flat-roof ballasted systems, suit older and flat-roofed buildings.
Including on systems installed by other firms: inspection, fixing and re-certifying non-compliant systems, and ongoing maintenance.
Yes. We design and install commercial solar PV and battery storage for businesses, farms and rural sites across York and North Yorkshire. We’re based in Beverley, so surveys and aftercare visits are an easy run.
Yes. Ground-mounted arrays suit sites with spare land and roofs that are small, shaded or in poor condition. Ballasted ground mounts need no piling or concrete foundations, and ground-mounted arrays may need planning permission depending on size and location.
Yes. We carry out wind load calculations for every array and choose the mounting to suit, which matters on coastal and moorland sites.
Northern Powergrid. We prepare and submit the G99 application and deal with their queries. Approval typically adds 8–12 weeks before installation.
Many rooftop systems on commercial buildings fall under permitted development, but conservation areas, listed buildings, the National Park and ground-mounted arrays can need planning. We check your site and apply if it’s needed.
Typically about £17,000–£21,000 for 30 kWp, £28,000–£37,000 for 50 kWp and £50,000–£65,000 for 100 kWp, excluding VAT. Ground-mounted arrays are priced after survey. Book a free survey for an accurate quote.
