Solar PV and battery storage across Bridlington, Flamborough, Sewerby and the Holderness coast
CHAS Elite accredited · MCS certified · RECC member
Bridlington runs on a mix you don’t find inland: guesthouses, hotels and holiday lets that need hot water, laundry and kitchens running all season, a working harbour with nearly a hundred mostly small businesses, and the trade and industrial units on Carnaby and Bessingby Way. Add the family homes across YO15 and YO16 and you have plenty of roofs that use power during the day. BrightEdge Solar designs and installs solar panels and battery storage for homes, hospitality and businesses in Bridlington and along the coast. We’re based on Swinemoor Lane in Beverley, about 22 miles away, and our guesthouse install at Brandesburton is 14 miles to the south.

Hospitality is the obvious fit in Bridlington, and it’s where we have the most relevant proof nearby. At a guesthouse in Brandesburton we fitted a 20 kWp all-black array on a slate roof, a 20 kW SolaX three-phase inverter, a 6 kW SolaX AC charger and 12 kWh of SolaX battery storage.
What matters for a Bridlington guesthouse or small hotel:
Bridlington’s main employment land is at Carnaby Industrial Estate, between the A614 and A165 about 3 miles from the town centre, and along Bessingby Way, where Bessingby Industrial Estate and Bridlington Business Park have workshop, trade-counter and storage units. East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Local Plan allocates about 10.5 hectares of further land at Carnaby for industrial and storage uses. Down at the harbour, fishing, chandlery, shops and cafés all draw power through the day.
We size every system from your bills or half-hourly data, so you aren’t paying for panels whose output you’d only export. For larger sites across the county, see commercial solar in East Yorkshire.

We fit on-roof and in-roof systems, with or without a battery, for homes across Bridlington, Sewerby, Bessingby, Flamborough and the villages inland. In-roof panels sit flush with the tiles instead of on top of them. They suit new builds, re-roofs and homes where looks matter. At Catwick, 16 miles south, we fitted in-roof all-black panels with Fox ESS battery storage on two new-build homes, set into slate and pantile roofs.
Installing solar panels and batteries on a home currently carries 0% VAT, until 31 March 2027. See home solar panels and battery storage.
A roof a few streets from the sea is a different job from one in the Wolds, and we design for it:
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has designated Bridlington Old Town, Bridlington Quay and Bridlington Hilderthorpe as conservation areas, with further areas at Sewerby, Bessingby and Flamborough. Inside them, panels on a roof that faces a road may need planning permission, and listed buildings need listed building consent. Rear and side roofs are often fine. We check your address before we design and can use all-black or in-roof panels to keep the roofline tidy.
Farms on the edge of the Wolds and along the coast road, from Carnaby and Burton Agnes to Bempton, have the same draws as farms across the East Riding: big sheds, daytime loads and low export prices. Our nearest farm job is at North Dalton, about 20 miles inland, where we fitted 19.8 kWp to a split corrugated and asbestos roof. More on farm solar panels.
These are areas we cover, not a list of past installs.
| Job | Distance from Bridlington | What we did |
|---|---|---|
| Guesthouse, Brandesburton | about 14 miles | 20 kWp all-black panels on slate, 20 kW SolaX inverter, 6 kW AC charger, 12 kWh SolaX battery |
| Two new-build homes, Catwick | about 16 miles | 4.5 kWp in-roof all-black panels on each home, with Fox ESS battery storage |
| Farm shed, North Dalton | about 20 miles | 19.8 kWp on a split corrugated and asbestos roof, 20 kW three-phase inverter, 22 kW EV charger |

Yes. We’re based in Beverley, about 22 miles away, and we cover Bridlington, Flamborough, Sewerby and the surrounding villages. Our nearest install is a guesthouse at Brandesburton, about 14 miles from the town.
Often, because guesthouses use power through the day for laundry, kitchens and hot water. A battery moves midday generation into the breakfast and evening peaks. We model it month by month against your occupancy and will tell you if it doesn’t pay.
Yes, if the system is designed for it. We check the fixing layout against your roof’s wind exposure, follow the manufacturers’ guidance for coastal sites when we choose panels and mounting hardware, and set up remote monitoring at handover so any fault is picked up quickly.
Possibly. Both are conservation areas, as are Hilderthorpe, Sewerby, Bessingby and Flamborough. Panels on a road-facing roof in a conservation area may need permission, and listed buildings need consent. We check your address before designing.
Northern Powergrid, on its Yorkshire network. Larger systems need G99 approval before connection, which typically adds 8–12 weeks. We submit and manage the application for you.
Send us your address, a recent electricity bill (or half-hourly data for a business) and a photo of the roof. For a guesthouse or hotel, tell us roughly how many rooms you have and when you’re busiest. We’ll come back with an initial layout and estimate, then arrange a survey.
