Inspections, testing, repairs and reports for commercial and domestic solar PV and battery systems
Solar panel maintenance and servicing for commercial and domestic solar PV and battery systems, in Hull, East Yorkshire, Yorkshire and the North and at sites nationwide. We inspect, test, repair and look after systems on farms, industrial units, warehouses, churches, schools, charities and public buildings. The aim is a system that keeps generating safely, keeps its warranties in good order and gives your insurer what it needs to see.
We’re an MCS certified installer, NICEIC accredited, a RECC member and CHAS Elite accredited, working from Colonial House in Beverley. See our certifications.
A failed string, a tripped inverter or a dead monitoring link can go unnoticed for weeks on a commercial roof. Planned maintenance catches those problems early and gives you a written record of the system’s condition.
We service rooftop and ground-mounted systems on:
We offer annual maintenance to MCS MIS3002, one-off health checks with string testing and thermal imaging, panel cleaning and planned maintenance contracts.
Prices are on application. Every site is different, so we quote after a short call about your system: its size, the inverters and batteries, how the roof is accessed and what you need from the visit.
The scope depends on the size and type of system, and we agree it with you for each site before we visit. A service can cover:
Panels, frames, mounting rails, clamps and roof fixings, checked as far as safe access allows. We look for cracked glass, delamination, discolouration, hot spots, loose fixings, damaged cable clips and signs of water getting in.
We inspect and test the DC and AC cabling, connectors, isolators and protective devices. That includes string voltage and current tests against what each string should produce, and insulation resistance testing on the DC side. Results are recorded against the relevant standards.
Thermal imaging shows hot spots in panels, connectors and isolators that you can’t see with the naked eye. These are common early signs of a fault and a potential fire risk. We use handheld FLIR thermal cameras for close inspection of isolators, connectors and inverters, and drone thermography to survey large roofs and ground-mounted arrays quickly.

We check inverter error logs, operating readings, ventilation, firmware and settings, including export limits where your G99 connection has one. We also make sure your monitoring platform, such as SolarEdge or Fox ESS Cloud, is online and reporting correctly, so you’re alerted next time something goes wrong. We work on all major inverter and battery brands, including SolarEdge and Fox ESS, which we also install.
If the system is underperforming or showing an error, we trace the cause, which might be a failed string, a faulty optimiser, a tripped isolator or a failing inverter. We then explain the fix in plain terms. Repairs and inverter replacements are quoted before any work is done. Call-outs are priced on application.
For battery storage systems we check the battery’s operating status, how it charges and discharges, any warnings from the battery management system, the cable connections, the location and ventilation, and whether the charge schedule still suits your tariff.
Many UK installers and manufacturers recommend an inspection at least once a year. Larger commercial systems, and sites with a lot of dust or bird activity, may need more frequent visits. Check your manufacturer’s warranty terms too.
Prices are on application. The cost depends on the size of the system, the number of inverters, whether there’s a battery and how easy the roof is to reach, so we quote after a short call about your system.
Yes. We service and repair systems fitted by other installers, with no limits on brand or age. We inspect the system, fix it and re-certify it.
Batteries are largely sealed units, but it’s worth checking their status, connections, ventilation, battery management system warnings and charge schedule at the same time as the solar. The manufacturer’s instructions also set out the checks they expect.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) covers the whole electrical installation, and that includes the solar PV circuit. Landlords and many commercial premises need periodic inspection. A solar service focuses on the PV system itself, including DC-side tests that a general EICR may not cover in depth. We issue EICRs, and you can book one alongside a solar service.
The usual causes are an inverter fault or trip, a failed string or connector, shading from new growth, heavy soiling, or a monitoring fault that makes generation look lower than it really is. A health check with string tests and thermal imaging usually finds the cause.
Yes. We work on all major inverter brands, including SolarEdge and Fox ESS. We diagnose the fault and, where a repair isn’t practical, quote for a replacement before any work is done. If you’re adding a battery, the replacement can be a hybrid inverter.
Yes. We arrange cleaning through a trusted cleaning partner. As a general guide, rain partly cleans panels at a normal pitch in the UK. Low-pitch roofs, farm buildings and sites near roads or livestock usually need cleaning more often. Never use a pressure washer or harsh chemicals on panels.
We service systems nationwide. Most of our work is in Hull, East Yorkshire, Yorkshire and the North. Call-outs are priced on application.
Every installation comes with its MCS certificate, a handover pack, remote monitoring and a 24-month insurance-backed workmanship warranty, and we monitor the system for the first two months. After that, ongoing servicing and maintenance is available, priced on application.
Tell us your system size, the make of your inverter and battery, and any fault codes, and we’ll come back to you with the next steps.
