Doncaster’s distribution centres, factories and trade units have exactly what commercial solar needs: large metal roofs, daytime demand and a three-phase supply. BrightEdge Solar designs and installs rooftop solar PV and battery storage for warehouses, factories and industrial units across Doncaster and South Yorkshire. We’re based in Beverley, East Yorkshire, and install across the UK. We have also fitted solar for a manufacturing site in Rotherham.
Most industrial roofs are profiled metal with rows of rooflights. We lay the rail around rooflights and fit temporary covers over them while we work.
We can fit a permanent Man-Safe lifeline so the roof can be maintained safely in future.

From first call to aftercare
Initial call: we look at your bills and half-hourly data. Desktop design: an initial layout and estimate, often before we visit.
Site survey: roof, structure, rooflights, electrical supply, existing G99 approvals and access. Proposal: final design, expected generation, costs and timescale.
G99 application: submitted and tracked by us. Installation and commissioning: MCS-compliant, planned around your shifts, with full handover documents.
Remote monitoring through SolarEdge or Fox ESS Cloud, plus optional annual maintenance to MCS MIS3002, string testing and FLIR thermal imaging.
Distribution centres, factories and trade units with large metal roofs and daytime demand suit rooftop solar. Battery storage and export limits can be designed in. Warehouse and industrial solar.
Barns, stores and yards with large roofs suit rooftop solar, and ground-mounted arrays can use spare land.
Inspection, fixing and re-certification of systems installed by other firms, and ongoing maintenance.
Yes. We design and install commercial solar PV and battery storage for warehouses, factories, trade units and farms across Doncaster and the rest of South Yorkshire.
It can. Where a site already has G99 approval, we can sometimes size the new inverter to fit within it. We check your existing approval at survey.
Yes. Where an approved equipment list applies, we design the system around it, whether that is SolarEdge, Solis, Fox ESS or Sigenergy kit.
Yes, with the landlord’s consent. We provide the information landlords usually need, and a PPA can suit leased buildings.
A 50–150 kWp roof typically takes about 1–2 weeks on site, after G99 approval. You’ll only lose power briefly for the final connection, and we can schedule that out of hours.
Typically about £50,000–£65,000 for 100 kWp, and about £420–£650 per kWp for systems of 150 kWp and above, excluding VAT. Smaller systems start at about £17,000–£21,000 for 30 kWp. Book a free survey for an accurate quote.
We work with businesses across:
Closer to home, see commercial solar in Hull and East Yorkshire. We also cover commercial solar in Sheffield.
Northern Powergrid runs the local network across Doncaster and South Yorkshire. Almost every commercial system needs G99 approval before installation. We prepare and submit the application with the technical details and single-line diagrams the DNO needs, and deal with any queries. Approval typically adds 8–12 weeks before installation, so we start it early.
Already have G99 approval for an older system? Tell us at the start. We can sometimes size the new inverter to fit within it. If the DNO limits your export, a G100 export limitation scheme or a battery means you still use everything you generate on site. Read more: G99 applications explained.
Indicative installed costs for commercial solar PV, by system size (ex VAT):
Large distribution roofs usually fall in the 150 kWp-plus band, priced per kWp. Commercial battery storage typically costs about £350–£450 per kWh installed, including the hybrid inverter.
Prices exclude VAT, which is charged at 20% on commercial installs. Simple roofs with good access sit at the lower end; fibre-cement roofs, premium panels, scaffolding and safety systems such as rooflight protection or Man-Safe lifelines push the price up. Every quote sets out equipment, installation, scaffolding and DNO costs separately.
If you lease your unit, you’ll need the landlord’s consent. We provide the information landlords usually ask for. Ways to pay:
Send us a recent electricity bill, your half-hourly data if you have it, and details of any existing G99 approval. We’ll come back with an initial view on system size and whether solar makes sense for your building.
