Initial call and desktop design

Initial call and data review: bills and half-hourly data. Desktop design: an initial layout, battery size and estimate, often before we visit.

Site survey and proposal

Site survey: roof, structure, electrical supply, battery location and access. Proposal: final design, expected performance, costs and timescale.

G99 application and installation

G99 application: submitted and tracked by us. Installation and commissioning: MCS-compliant, planned around your operations.

Monitoring and aftercare

Handover and aftercare: monitoring set-up, documentation, warranty registration and optional annual maintenance to MCS MIS3002.

Cold stores, food and engineering sites

Food processors, cold stores and engineering firms use power through the day, when solar generates. Batteries help them use more of their own power and export less.

Farms, yards and workshops

Sheds, stores, barns and contractors’ yards suit rooftop arrays, and EV charging can be fed by solar for vans and staff cars.

Maintenance and remedial work

Including on systems installed by other firms: inspection, fixing and re-certifying non-compliant systems, and ongoing maintenance.

FAQ

Commonly Asked Questions

Yes. We’re based in Beverley, just across the Humber Bridge, and we cover North and North East Lincolnshire, including Scunthorpe, Grimsby and the South Humber.

Most of North and North East Lincolnshire, including Scunthorpe and Grimsby, is covered by Northern Powergrid. Further south, including Lincoln, it’s National Grid Electricity Distribution. We confirm yours from your postcode and handle the G99 application.

Often, if you export a lot of daytime solar or are limited by an export cap. We model your half-hourly data first and tell you honestly if storage doesn’t pay.

Typically about £350–£450 per kWh installed, including the hybrid inverter, excluding VAT.

Usually, yes. We check your existing inverter, wiring, metering and G99 position, then either add an AC-coupled battery or replace the inverter with a hybrid. We can also fix and re-certify systems that aren’t compliant.

Typically about £17,000–£21,000 for 30 kWp, £28,000–£37,000 for 50 kWp and £50,000–£65,000 for 100 kWp, excluding VAT. Book a free survey for an accurate quote.

Areas we cover in North and North East Lincolnshire

The Humber Bridge puts the South Humber within easy reach of our Beverley base for surveys and aftercare. We work with businesses, farms and organisations across:

  • The South Humber bank: Barton-upon-Humber, Barrow upon Humber, New Holland and Goxhill
  • Grimsby and the coast: Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Immingham and the industrial areas along the estuary
  • Scunthorpe and the west: Scunthorpe, Brigg, Winterton, Kirton in Lindsey and the Isle of Axholme (Epworth and Crowle)
  • The Wolds edge: Caistor and the surrounding farms
  • Further afield: for Lincoln, see solar panels in Lincoln. For the north bank, see commercial solar in Hull and East Yorkshire.

What we install

  • Rooftop solar PV on profiled metal, fibre cement, flat and pitched roofs. See warehouse and industrial solar for roof types and checks. See commercial solar installation.
  • Hybrid solar and battery systems, using SolaX, Fox ESS, Solis and Sigenergy equipment, sized from your half-hourly data. We also add batteries to existing solar, either AC-coupled or by swapping an old inverter for a hybrid, including on systems another firm installed. See commercial battery storage.
  • Agricultural solar for sheds, stores and barns. See agricultural solar.
  • EV charging fed by solar, for fleet vehicles, staff or visitors.
  • Maintenance and remedial work: inspection, fault-finding on batteries that aren’t performing, and fixing and re-certifying non-compliant systems.

Grid connection (G99) in North Lincolnshire

Most of North and North East Lincolnshire, including Scunthorpe and Grimsby, is in Northern Powergrid’s Yorkshire network area. That’s the same network operator as Hull and East Yorkshire, and the same G99 process we already handle there. Further south, including Lincoln, the network operator is National Grid Electricity Distribution. We confirm yours from your postcode.

Almost every commercial system needs G99 approval before installation. Approval typically adds 8–12 weeks, so we start it early. Adding a battery to an existing system may also need a new application or a notification to the DNO. We check this and handle it. Read more: G99 applications explained.

Typical costs

Indicative installed costs for commercial solar PV, by system size (ex VAT):

  • 30 kWp: about £17,000–£21,000
  • 50 kWp: about £28,000–£37,000
  • 100 kWp: about £50,000–£65,000
  • 150 kWp and above: about £420–£650 per kWp

Commercial battery storage typically costs about £350–£450 per kWh installed, including the hybrid inverter.

Prices exclude VAT, which is charged at 20% on commercial installs. Fibre-cement roofs, premium panels, scaffolding and safety systems push the price up. Every quote sets out equipment, installation, scaffolding and DNO costs separately.

Paying for it

  • Outright purchase. The best long-term return if you have the capital.
  • Business finance or leasing. Spreads the cost. See solar finance.
  • Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Little or no upfront cost. You buy the power at an agreed rate. See PPAs.

Get a solar and battery assessment

Send us a recent electricity bill and, if you have it, your half-hourly data. We’ll tell you what size of solar and storage makes sense, and whether it’s worth doing at all.
